On Wednesday 26 August, 11 of us went to Winton Wetlands and did some bird watching, with the guidance of Rod Davis, who is both a member of our club, and a keen bird watcher.
This is the first time, far as I know that we’ve had bird watching on our program. But as many of our members enjoy nature, this was introduced to our program to see if there was an interest.
It seems that we all took to it like a duck to water. There were mainly water birds, but also some birds of prey. We also spotted a couple of echidnas close to where we were watching the birds, and a turtle at another place, so we were fortunate to see them as well.
We had a very civilized afternoon tea at the café, which was nice, and to end the adventure, we did a short walk in a different location at Winton Wetlands.
All in all, it was a lovely day in nature, with good weather and company and a great bird watching guide. Thank you Rod.
