The historic township of Eldorado is famous for its alluvial gold dredge; in its heyday, the town had an overall population of about 7000.
On a coolish morning, seven of us met at Gunhouse Park in Eldorado, all looking forward to our first walk of the day, Reids Walk, a 1.1 kilometre walk, located near the township.
This walk begins on an unsealed road, leads to a swing bridge across the creek, then along a bush track to the main road. From there we followed a sealed path to, and through, Centennial Park to the famous Eldorado Dredge site.
We returned the same way, making a 7.8km trip.
Further to the above: during the walk we stopped to read the story boards covering the history of Eldorado. We wandered onto the Dredge, in the area that was open to us, to have a look around, and had morning tea at the picnic area adjacent to the Dredge.
We had lunch on our return to Gunhouse Park, with coffees and cold drinks purchased from the general store.
