Hello fellow walkers,
It is with great sadness that I am letting you know of the recent passing of our friend and fellow-member, Peter Stokie, after a short illness.
A memorial service was conducted in Bright on Friday 14th June, well attended by family and friends from across the State, and his varied walks in life. June Brown attended from the Warby Bushwalking Group.
Peter was ever cheerful and enthusiastic about life, and always had an interesting conversation to share.
He is remembered locally for his commitment to the environment, and his support for Mallee Fowl monitoring in the Murray Sunset NP, his involvement in Landcare activities, and Friends of Chiltern NP, as well as joining us on walks when his many commitments allowed (not as often as he would have liked, he often remarked).
His most recent walk with the group would have been early May, in his home patch – from Bright to Wandiligong along Morse’s Creek. He will be missed by his family, his friends, and all those who shared his interests and passions.
