Listed below is the equipment that should be taken on a day walk.
Check list for Day Walk
- Day Pack: Of adequate size and comfortable fit
- Fluid: An amount sufficient to last at least the duration of the walk (As a guide, one litre for each 10km of the walk)
- Food: Lunch plus high energy snacks plus some reserve.
- Wet weather gear: Waterproof coat and over trousers
- Woollen Jumper (if not being worn)
- Attire: Sturdy boots, woollen socks (2 pair), Jumpers as required, Shorts or trousers (No denim), Long sleeved shirt with collar, Hat with brim, Sunglasses
- Other Personal Items: Sunscreen, Band-Aids, Safety pins, Note book and pencil, Elastic bandages, Whistle, Spare bootlaces, Personal medication for conditions such as asthma, blisters or sunburn

- Day Pack: Of adequate size and comfortable fit

- Extra tracksuit (top and trousers) or similar
- Woollen Jumper (if not being worn)
- Balaclava or beanie plus woollen gloves or mitts
- Spare socks
- Thermals: underwear, gloves and socks or similar if you have them
- Attire: sturdy boots, woollen socks (2 pair), Jumpers as required, Shorts or trousers (No denim), Long sleeved shirt with collar, Hat with brim, Sunglasses
- Other Personal Items: Sunscreen, Band-Aids, Elastic bandages, Matches, Safety pins, Toilet paper and plastic bags, Note book and pencil, Elastic bandages, Whistle, Compass, Spare bootlaces, Personal medication for conditions such as asthma, blisters or sunburn
- Optionals Extras: Pocket knife, Plastic poncho (recommended), Towel or absorbent cloth, 50m of light cord.
